Default playlist help....please!

I have a love hate relationship with this thing, but here's my question for the newest problem...

I have made a playlist with about 40 tracks.

When the Zen is connected and I access the Playlist Editor, it shows the name of each track, in order, perfectly. Great.

But when I look at the tracks in the same playlist, on the actual Zen half of them say Untitled?!?!?

Why is all the correct info showing up in the Zen software (on my PC) but not on my Zen?

This thing drives me absolutely nuts sometimes, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, and happy new year!

Sounds as though you have a tagging issue. Get something like MediaMonkey or MP3Tag and check to make sure your tags are complete. 'Artist' is a different tag than 'Album Artist' and they both need to be filled in with the same info.

Yeah, the zen tag reading is odd. On My V and V Plus it shows the right artist name but the same files on my Vision:M shows "artist name\another name" on 2 songs. I even checked it with a tag editor and it shows the same as the V and V Plus so it could be your Zen like mine but you never know.

Welcome blue77. I'm with werezenwolf here. Double check the tags to ensure they are filled in correctly. I would also make sure they are in ID3v2.3 UTF-16 format.

Thanks for the advice guys.

I downloaded MediaMonkey and have been trying to figure it out for the past 4 hrs.

Changing file names, uploading album art etc shouldn't be this complicated but for some reason I'm completely lost.

I'm selecting all the tracks on the same album, trying to apply the album art to all of them at once and for some reason it's only updating one at a time. And then it's hit and miss when I look at my Zen, sometimes the cover art doesn't even show up.

Sooo frustrating because this should be fairly simple.

A great program that I use, is dBpoweramp Music Converter. It allows me to convert my music to and from any format. And it has a built in feature that puts an option on the right click menu of all audio files "Edit ID-Tag" it allows you to change all of a given selection's Track album info and artist. It's a great program. You can find a full version of it with all the plugin's on any torrent site.

- And a second note. The easiest way to update album art is in Windows Media Player 11, you just go to your library go to album view, right click on the albums that dont have album art, and hit update album info.

I will second MP3Tag here. It is very easy to use. From the Zen FAQ:

Quote:
How do I get my ID3 Tags tagged correctly?

You have to use a ID3 Tag editing program. This can be done using many different programs. I prefer using MP3Tag for editing all my MP3 files. WMP11 is also good at editing ID3 Tags.

See Tagging FAQ here.
