So my brother gives me a Sansa View for Christmas last year (2007) which has a (1) year subscription to Best Buy Rhaspody Music Store. Love the ability to try any music I can think of with Rhaspody. Been ripping my own CDs @192 and higher. Sansa View doesn't have very good sound but the size and functions along with the not so bad storage with additional MicroSD is nice to have.
Couldn't resist getting a portable amp with the nieve notion I would be able to access the digital stream before the cheap DA in the Sansa View but got the wake up call after trying to make it happen. Have a Pico with USB and hope to one day hear clean portable sound. Anyone have any hope for me? |

The Sansa View does not have a digital output. The View does have a lineout in the dock port that you could use. I hope that helps you.

Thank you for the reply
Wondering if any players/brands have digital output? Wadia and Meridian now have docking units which access the digital stream from IPod. Of course they then provide only line out access to the user but this allows use of a high quality DA. Also have read the reviews and forum regarding the Fuze and Clip having good to great sound. Is it that Sansa improved their design/components and would these perhaps be improvements to new View units? Thanks, |

I can not think of any right now, but there might be one, tho.
So far during CES, Sandisk only have release news about the slotRadio and nothing else. I am not sure if there is going to be a new View or not tho. Never know with them since they released the Fuze after CES last year and did not have it during CES, too.

The iriver H1x0 has a digital optical output, but it's an old player not produced anymore.

Johnkess, I assume you mean USB-audio out, not optical or electrical S/PDIF out, since you mention your Pico amp.
As far as I know the Cowon Q5W works with the Pico via USB. It runs on Windows, so this is possible. You won't find any "normal" MP3 player that supports USB-audio out that way, you'd have to look at UMPCs or subnotebooks.
