BSOD in XP when copying to NS-DV2G, IO Error in Ubuntu

I have a Ubuntu 8.04 desktop and an XP laptop. I can connect to the insignia via USB to both. I was able to copy all my music off the player. Both will read just fine. When I try to copy music to the player in windows, I get a BSOD. It's too quick so I can't tell what it says, just reboots immediately. In Ubuntu, it just says input/output error when copying file. I've had the player for ~18 months and never had a problem with it other than the wheel being "jumpy", but it still plays music fine. Anyone know why I may not be able to copy files? Is there a way to reset back to factory defaults and format the internal storage, then copy the files back?
