how do i get this veiw to work like an mp3player??

hey guys...

i just got a sansa view for xmas after having the creative zen for just under a year..

firstly how do i go about changing the firmware on this player..?
i downloaded the "sansa updater" but for some unknown reason
it wont work.. so im stuck with this stock firmware that is just
utter pants..

and i know theirs no one working on a rockbox port for this player
which the view really needs...

i just dont know what to do with this player...!!

Have you looked at this thread: http://anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=31504? I just do not like the Sansa Firmware Updater myself. I do the the firmware updates manually. If that does not work, are you sure you have a View and not a Fuze?

Just an FYI, the firmware updates will not change what the firmware looks like.

which i think is an utter f**king disgrace.....
didnt this view come out in 2007?? and still this is
just unbelievable..

its like the dark ages when using the firmware and
at the back down the bottom theirs a little bit that
says model: view anyway im pretty sure ill go back
and get a zen if this "supposed mp3player" keeps it up!!

I am finding more and more devices with MTP are more or less crippled in what it can do, including firmware updates.

i wish i had the fuze! lol (they say that's better) the view is a good player
with the microsd slot (integrated)
but i think the UI is the backbone of any player!!
and with the view's buggy UI it makes it hard for me to like it really...!

i cant figure out how to make this player better... im sure new firmware can do the trick.......but i cant update it for some reason!
i just wondered if someone knows how to help!

Do you know which firmware version you have? It's possible that there aren't any updates yet from what you have. I think the View is kind of on the way out, but I could be wrong

yeah i kinda got the idea that the view was a "mistake"...!
and i know sandisk don't want anything to do with it...lol

my firmware version is 01.01.06p

yeah this update fixed a lot of bugs in the view.. but stiill i cant fastforward
fast enough... its a bit faster than the old firmware (7secs) and now like (8.5secs) still too slow for live dj sets tho!

but all i can say is thanks for the help!!
