Default Help with deleting folder on NWZ-A816 Video Walkman

Hi all,

After added more songs on to my player using WMP11 I started exploering the folders in the player to add photos. I have 2 folders now. One called PICTURE and the other called PICTURES. I don't know if it created the second folder or not after I added my pics. So I dragged all photos into the folder named PICTURE. But I can not remove/delete the other folder. When I try it says the folder is protected. Both folders say this when I try to delete either one. So is there a way to remove the second picture folder? Is there suppose to be 2 Picture folders in the menu?

Thanks

I haven't added any pics to mine, and I have both folders as well. The sample pics are in the "Picture" folder, so I would imagine that is the correct one to put them in.

Please use more descriptive thread names in the future. The original name, "NWZ-A816 Video Walkman", doesn't tell much about the problem you're looking a solution for.

So if you have the 2 folders as well then I guess that is a Sony thing and why they can not be deleted.

Thanks for the quick help and reply.

It is written in the user guide: You can't delete any of the original folder on the player !

I had to find the guide.

I did not know there were 2 PICTURE folders already by default.

Thanks

Try backing up your media to your computer and then on the player select the option to restore player defaults.

Put your pictures in the one folder that is there by default.

I don't know how that second folder came to exist. It might have something to do with WMP though.

I also have these two on my S638, so I guess we'll have to cope with them

P.S. I've just browsed the phone a little more and I think the 'Pictures' folder is because of Rhapsody compatibility. At least in folder Service\Rhapsody in 'capabilities.xml' there is the following:

Code:
<?xml version="1.0" ?>
<capabilities>
    <RhapDNAVersion>100</RhapDNAVersion>
    <RhapChannelCapable>1</RhapChannelCapable>
    <PreferredAlbumArtSize></PreferredAlbumArtSize>
    <VideoPath>Video</VideoPath>
    <PhotoPath>Pictures</PhotoPath>
    <AudioPath>Music</AudioPath>
    <ArtistInfoPath>Service\Rhapsody\ArtistInfo</ArtistInfoPath>
    <TextPath>Texts</TextPath>
    <RecordingsPath>Recordings</RecordingsPath>
    <ChannelsPath>Channels</ChannelsPath>
    <SupportsServiceLogo>1</SupportsServiceLogo>
</capabilities>
So, I guess this might be it... Anyway, I also could not delete it...

Just reformat the player, everything will be as when it was shipped form the factory. That way all folders will be where they belong, and you can view their original location.

PS: Next time I'd advise NOT deleting folders unless you know if they belong on the player or not. Your lucky you didn't brick it.
