Distribution temporarily stopped in Germany and Austria

Today the german cowon site says: "Aufgrund einer Überprüfung der Markenrechte haben wir den Vertrieb des COWON O2 in Deutschland und Österreich kurzzeitig eingestellt. Wir werden Sie über unsere Website auf dem Laufenden halten."

Which means: "Because of a review of trade mark rights, we have stopped the distribution of the Cowon O2 in Germany and Austria temporarily. We will use our website to keep up."

Good thing my O2 comes from the USA... but I'm curious what trade mark issues they have.

The O2 doesn't even appear in the product section anymore.

Maybe because O2 is owned by Telefonica, the former Spanish and today multinational mobile phone provider.

Hmm... maybe that or that fancy "O2" sparkling water they sell here? Good thing there's no copyright on good old O² oxygen.

i know there was a cellphone out for a bit called the o2 but not sure if that has any relation. I believe the phone was a samsung under some other company and called the o2

I just wondered how they can sell a player called O2 in Germany.
But mobile providing is another branch than multimedia player, but both are at
the electronics sector. O2 is selling self branded mobile phones and accessories.

If it was the O2 company, it'd be odd that this only affected Germany and Austria as O2 are pretty global and if there were any trade mark infringements I'm sure they'd be halting sales in more countries.
