I was setting up 2 servers today & decided to have a go at using the line out of my X5 though my Linn-Naim hi-fi. It worked a treat! I found the OEM software was a better sound than Rockbox for the line-out & turning off the EQ settings made a marked improvement in sound (no BBE of course). The little X5 20gb kept going all day with a playlist running through Frost - Milliontown, Kino - Picture & Evanesence - Fallen. Lovely stuff! I'm still listing to Milliontown now!

Yup, the BBE effects and EQ only sound good on headphones. Too bad they don't get bypassed automatically on the line-out. It would be much better they were only available on the phones-out.
One thing I don't understand: the balance-settings are only active on the phones-out, if you set the player to hard-left or -right, it won't affect the line-out... why not for all effects?

I didn't even know there was a balance control!
