Problems with BBC iPlayer

I followed instructions on BBC site and downloaded file from iPlayer for mobile player, saved it to computer and then tried to drag and drop to creative zen V plus. I then get a message saying that DirectShow (R)codec is required and is not on my computer and will not copy. Is this because the zen v plus is not capable of running these files or am I doing something wrong?

Appreciate some guidance

Welcome bella. Make sure that you have the correct codec's and encoders installed on your computer in order for the conversion to work correctly. To be able to encode to the format the Zen V likes, the Operating System needs to be able to read the encoding of the source file. If it doesn't, then the encoding program cannot read the source file in order to convert to a playable format. Ex: An AVI encoded with the XVID or DIVX codec; the XVID and DIVX codec needs to be installed on the computer in order to playback (on the computer) and encode from (and too). What Operating System are you using?

Did you download the download manager? even though you won't use it you still have to have it installed I think that's the bit that converts for it to work on your media player

Yes, the issue may be because of DRM and the need to convert/transfer with their software.

I'm not managing to get stuff from iplayer to my Zen V Plus either. I wonder if it's supported as the BBC site mentions support for Creative Zen but not model details.
I have everything installed, I can download the file, I can play the file in Window Media player on my PC, but if I try to copy it to my Zen V I get a message saying that I do not have the rights, and if I look at the rights in Windows Media Player I see:
You do not have the rights to play this file (even though it is playing in Media Player!)
Collaborative play for this file is not allowed
This file cannot be burned
This file cannot be synchronized
The media usage rights for this file cannot be backed up

Has anyone with a Zen V Plus actually managed to view BBC Iplayer downloads on it?

Good ol' DRM. I see it specifically mention only the new Zen and Zen X-Fi here.

Go to sourceforge and get a copy of get_iplayer. I then use Microsoft Windows (Vista) Movie Maker to convert and then transfer to my Zen.

Ahhh, the "unofficial DRM-free alternative". Use it and convert with your favorite video converter utility.

I've tried downloading get_iplayer from sourceforge, but it doesnt seem to do anything when I click on "download" :S

Shame my V+ has no screen now

Also, it says on the iPlayer website that only the Zen and X Fi are supported, which would explain why everyone has trouble getting it on the V and V+
