Symptoms:
-the player can be turned on -some of the buttons work but not all -the joystick does not respond -the player repeats a menu like it enters it and exits it looping and you can do nothing to escape it What could it be? It looked like a software error I patched with the latest firmware but it did not help. After a while of thinking I reached the CONCLUSION that one of the buttons is stuck. The back button was stuck. SOLUTION: I opened the player as it is shown here . Only to the part that I had removed the button masks. There are 2 masks the outer one that is the one you touch and the other one just underneath it. The second mask comes off harder you mainly rip it but carefully. I had now reach the circuit board ( the green thing ) you can see the joystick and next to it to the right at about 1cm are two parallel metallic bumps. The metallic bump for the back button is the lower one. If you look on the edge of the bump you can see a small shaft . Now comes the tricky part - you gently insert a screwdriver( or other tool ) in the shaft and carefully pop it out. Then you carefully put it back. This solved my problem. Notice that there is a high probability for failure. Do this on your own risk. Last edited by SomeUser1.618; 04-08-2009 at 07:58 AM. |

Just to mention a few things:
I have no hardware experience. I did this with stupidity and cold blood. If you still have warranty better use it. I am just a lazy guy and would have thrown the damn thing away before going to warranty with it so I just had to come up with a solution. |
