System -> Photo/Video -> Video Out -> Off

You can fix a lot of problems by using the Rescue Mode.
Press the reset button with a paper clip while holding the power button all the way in the ON position.
This will start you in Rescue Mode.
Try the Clean up option to fix issues.
If you think that you might have corrupted files, you can use the Format option. But be warned, it will delete all your files on the player.
But it is better than throwing away a good player.
Stay away from the Reload Firmware option unless you are very confident that you can reinstall it. If you cannot reinstall the firmware, you might have a nice little paperweight.
