You are correct in pointing this out, for those not interested in the Rockbox experience. I suspect this deal will mostly appeal to those looking for a Rockbox-compatible Fuze, since the new ones are mostly V2 models now, whereas most of the refurbs are V1's.

And it is nice to see Woot selling Sansas again.
It seemed for a while that their seemingly endless supply of refurb respiffied e200s and c200s had dried up, leaving only a meager trickle of Clips. Now they just need to beat that $50 NewEgg deal on the 8GBers. For comparison, I bought my respiffied e260 from them in April '08 for $45 ($49.99 + $5 shipping - $10 shirt.woot coupon). The Fuze is a nicer piece of hardware ergonomically, and the price was better, but there are better deals than yesterday's for the patient searchers. |

I got a 4gb fuze from woot, decided not to bother with the car charger whatever-it-was. The player is great. For some reason my main computer didn't notice it plugged into the usb port until I rebooted the computer (Ubuntu 8.04) with the player plugged in. I figure that prob is on the computer side since it eventually did work, and other computers saw the player on the first try.
The player seems to pick up some 60 cycle hum from my hand when it's not playing but that goes away when put it in play mode. This is with the player plugged into an external speaker thru the headphone jack. Maybe it disconnects the headphone jack from the audio amp to save battery power when not playing or something?? FW rev is 01.01.22A which I think is the most recent for v1 fuzes (v1 = rockbox capable = good). I don't mind the 4gb capacity since I can plug in a microsdhc card (I have a spare 8gb card at home and can buy a 16gb card if I want the space, and 32gb cards will come along soon). The UI is a bit clumsy but I guess I will get used to it (or switch to rockbox once that works a bit better). I do keep trying to touch the screen to change stuff, like on my D2.
