No, only when the card is swapped or written to.

If your e280 is a v1, rockbox it and eliminate the refresh db time.

Default a Database issue or what?

Sandisk Sansa e280 8gb+1gb (rockbox 3.4)

Hey guys, luv the RB 3.4 but struggling at file mgmt. - I've spent nights reviewing the manual and numerous threads on abi but have not found a clear solution.
Although I've deleted all music files that appeared on RB in the usb mode, the database menu retains old folders with music still in them.
Where do I access these folders if not under the "music" dir and how do I renew the database after "update Now" has not shown results?

Welcome to ABI

Those are not files in the database but references to the deleted files. I would force a rescan of my tags.

To force a Database rescan: Main Menu> Database (Long press on Enter)> Initialize Now. According to the manual:
Quote:
Initialize Now: You can force Rockbox to rescan your disk for tagged files by using the Initialize Now function in the Database Menu. Warning: Initialize Now removes all database files (removing runtimedb data also) and rebuilds the database from scratch.
Always works for me.

Here's the page in the manual. Glad to hear you are using it. Not what I would choose for light reading but there's a wealth of carefully thought out information there. Good stuff.
