iRiver e150 - does it index the sd card content or am I missing something?

my sister got an iRiver e150 for christmas. the player looks very elegant and seemed to be a reasonable choice. however, what we found out is that the files that are located on a micro sd card are not indexed in the library.

this particular model has 2 gbs of memory, and my sister has an 8 gb sd card. that is why not being able to navigate through the music via tags would disqualify it.

I have obviously tried the 'refresh library' (or something like that) option in the menu, it does not work. My bet is that we will have to return this player to the store, but I just wanted to make sure I'm not missing something.
