For a U.S. Tegra M1? They should skip 8gb and only offer 16gb and 32gb versions, with a 64gb version available "later". If there is no Wifi in it then it should sell for $50 less than a Zune HD with the same memory. 16gb Zune HDs can be found for $199 now. Make my 16gb M1 $149, with the 32gb M1 at $229ish ($199 on sale).

I'd hate to even put effort into thinking about this because there is about a 1% chance this will come to the US. If it does, the price range should be 50 bucks less than the 16gb/32gb Zune HD players (169.99/239.99)

Price range is gonna be high, trust me. Prolly 299.00 for 32gb. It has more features than the Zune hd but only thing zune hd will have that the m1 won't have is the wifi feature. Wifi feature is not really important anyway.

base on Korea price, Samsung M1 16gb is 360.000 won (DMB version) , 32gb is 455.000 won, 8gb 312k won. its mean the 8gb version maybe will be around $260 (225-275??)

Then Samsung shouldn't even put this out in the states if its gonna be priced like that. It doesn't matter what player has more features it's all about price. Outside of a niche group of people, no one will buy a Samsung M1 over a Zune HD at the same price. Just use the PS3 as an example, compared to a 360 it has tons more features that justify its price difference (pre $299.99), but that doesn't mean people were buying it more than the 360. As far as Wi-Fi not being important, Sony and MS thought it was important enough to include in their players, these players need something to distinguish themselves from the boatloads of other mp3 players. |

WiFi isn't important, unless you want to compete with other players that have it. The Sony X uses it for Slacker, YouTube, the crappy browser, and Podcast updates. 50% of the stock apps on an iPod Touch require it. The Zune requires it for wireless syncing, the Zune Marketplace access to music and apps, gameplay between devices, and Social/sharing which I don't use.
My point? WiFi isn't needed, but can be VERY useful is the device has it. The Korean companies haven't caught on yet it seems. |

Aren't companies supposed to compete? You many not see wi-fi as important, but a company that is putting out a touch mp3 player is automatically gonna get compared to these other touch players that have wi-fi. For Samsung to put out the M1, their high end mp3 player, with such nice technology behind it, without wi-fi, is pointless. |

You're right slntdth. Of course. For cell phones. This is about Wifi as a feature on PMPs/MP3 players. No Samsung, Cowon, or Iriver PMP uses WiFi. The Little MintPass does, so there is a glimmer of hope.
Mystic. Yes leaving WiFi of an M1 in the U.S. would be pointless. I was trying to be ironic. |
