I've got all the firmware updates and can still play nothing but stuttering avi files. No mpgs, wmvs, or in fact most avis. I upgraded manually, through the website, because Centrale refuses to work. The player says it's the latest version, and the touchscreen has improved tenfold, but no video support.

The MIC quality is the best I've encountered so far on a Zen. It's not hugely distinguishable from the mic on the Vision: M except for its greatly improved tolerance of S sounds. If I put the Vision:M a fair distance away from my voice or any instruments, it would sound like I had a lisp and so did the harp. No such problem now.

Ohh this stuttering .avi problem.

Y'all gave me the jitters now..I already placed an order for this player...

I had a good deal for the Vision W 60GB (it was coming in cheaper than this X-Fi2)

Placed an order for the 16GB XFi2 will get it by next week...fingers crossed now I guess hehe

The X-Fi2 is indeed a bit fussy about video format. The latest firmware has improved it some. But there are ways...

Note that the software that comes with the X-Fi2 (Creative Centrale) is useless. The only reason to install is to see how bad it is.

To convert vids I use the freeware Handbrake 0.9.3 (NOT 0.9.4)to encode as xVid AVI. It has a learning curve but the X-Fi2 plays them very well. AVS Converter seesm to be OK too, but is pricey.

Handrake can encode from mpg, avi, and DVD. It doesn't handle flv or mp4 or wmv very well. I also find that xVid from torrents usually play right off on the X-Fi2.

Kinda disappointing to see the specs don't mention support for MPEG-1 & MPEG-2 formats. The Vision:M & W played them just fine!

i was able to get video to play better by storing it on and playing it from the microsd card rather than the internal memory

No, the GUI can't at this time switch orientation.

The Photo viewer can switch orientation(landscape vs. portrait)
depending on how you hold the player.

The user applications can switch orientation

My GMP3 review will be published tomorrow.
But there is still one information missing.

Does somebody know how powerful is the speaker?
I know it's 1,6W on Samsung P3 and M1 but I did not find this information for the X-Fi 2
