There is a single firmware for the whole world. Only the region code may be different. And you can change it with a config.dat file

I installed the new firmware but I see few changes... Except the the 4th change the rest remains pretty mysterious for me
![]() Wondering what special view is... and in my case since the installation of the new firmware the touchscreen starts to be oversensitive, especially when I choose the album through the album cover view... Moreover, I still don't manage adding subtitles to my movies... so I am wondering if the firmware is really implementing new function ![]() By the way is the config.dat manipulation really working? Cause I would like to put my player in the european version to be able to enjoy de dts radio stations... Anybody knows how to do it?

Installed new firmware but don't see many changes either
could special view be sideview? when playing a song and insideview clicking on options i think 2 option have been added "add to alarm" and "play speed" i am not sure but i think they was not avaible in sidewiew (specialview?) before? yes the album view is over sensitive so i move through it slower (touch it lighter) What the other option is about i dunno: - Music Album Album jjalrim special view on the issue, improving - LCD On / Off problem occurs when noise improves - Not a problem playing the file ingang improve Gangnam-gu Office i see no other improvements Btw, after firmware upgrade it set the language to korean so had to go into settings and set it back to english it also resetted my icons/widgets (previous firmware didnt do it) and pivot (automatic sideview when turning player horizontal) was turned off in settings (had to turn it on) |

The LCD on/off sound problem is the only good improvement... Basically before when the display turned itself off to safe battery, there was a strange sound and I had the impression that the volume level was lower... This is now solved by the new Firmware...
Except that I don't see any change... except the fact - as you mentionned - that my m1 was set back to its factory settings (Kr language, no auto-pivot,...) I think I will go back to the firmware 1.19 that was much better concerning the touch-sensitivity and wait for a better firmware ;-) |

Hope I don't sound like a complete idiot but I was wondering what the best/safest way to install new firmware is for the M1. 1. Use EmoDio software or 2. Install the downloaded firmware (courtesy the links you have provided) to the root directory?
Sorry to sound like such a newbie but I would hate to brick this device - and it seems based upon the threads I've read that it is kind of touchy. If anyone has any advice, thanks. El Mono |

but i had some problems because emodio didn't warn me before installing it on M1 i though it only downloaded it to software or something So when disconecting player i got confused because M1 has not a progressbar while updating firmware just says "copy data" when it took long time i though i did something wrong so conected it to Pc again then got "disconect player" turned on player after firmware upgrade but it freezed fortunaly resetting player fixed it The second firmware upgrade on M1 i then did manual update i did not have any problem manual update i did: 1. first check you have enough battery (over 50% atleast) 2. Conect the usb cable first to M1 , THEN to pc 3. Move the firmware file into ROOT (that is click M1 when it show up and paste it directly in there not in any subfolder) 4. Then disconect player and it upgrade firmware 5. Then turn on it says something like "Copy data" this can take upto 3 minuts so be pacience |

Coolvibes - thank you for the response and detailed explanation (and time spent). I appreciate it.
Based on your description I think I might go with the second method (like updating my S9). Thanks so much again, El Mono |
