Hi, I have just purchased a sony walkman s series device and am looking for a hi-fi or a boom box with some good power and bass on it which has a docking station for my sony walkman device, do the hi-fi`s with ipod docking station work with a sony walkman? as I have seen sony hi-fi`s with a ipod docking station but with no sony walkman docking station.
I have seen a sony alarm clock with a sony walkman docking station so would assume that sony would make a hi-fi with this feature also, as I am really stuck here, I get the feeling that sony are putting the ipod docking station on their hi-fi`s because they are saying that the ipods are better than their own walkman products, what is sony thinking? I know I can plug in my sony walkman through the headphone socket, but I want to beable to change my songs through a hi-fi rather than from the device itself. Many Thanks in advance for any feedback you may offer. |

well not too many options since ipods dominate the market, but I did find this, it looks pretty decent, it even has a remote control.

Thankyou for your reply, this unit is okay but still only 20w in power output,
I am hoping to play music also for groups of people, a 50w speakers would be great as long as it also has the bass. why will sony not support there products, instead they help ipod to dominate the market. I am thinking the headphone socket on my walkman is not the ideal choice, maybe the only option I have. Thankyou for your advice, it is tempting to buy this also, just for use in my room. |

well honestly docking stations are way overpriced imho, if you want serious good sound and power you may want to consider something like this, I know it's not ideal since you cant control the unit through it but still it stomps anything in it's price range.

Also I may just add in, you could get a docking station (the one with no speakers, sorta like the iphone dock that came with the first gen model) which has line out and hook it up to those klipsch speakers
The sound would prolly be much better through line out

Good point, Ive tried my walkman through the line in on my sound card and it's too quiet, i'm not sure it would drive those speakers very well...or at least to their potential.

I tust got one of these off ebay for a bargain £35, havent actually got it yet though
![]() http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-CPFIX00.../dp/B000K9DMDS http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/p...roduct_ID/3230 2x5w RMS speakers and a 15W rms sub so should be reasonable, reviews are good. Can either be a wireless, 3.5mm jack connection, or has a WM-PORT (remove the screen), so charges etc, and might even be able to use as a PC dock too, not 100% sure yet Not very portable, and wired only, but then all the good docks are, and can use it round the house as a wireless radio or computer speakers too |

Just got this dock, really impressed, seriously loud for its size, and sound quality is similar to a Bose dock with a bit of fiddling. Works great with the S545, docks, charges and full remote control of all the functions, utter bargain from ebay
![]() dont think it works as a PC dock, but still playing |
