Does the NWZ-S639F have podcast support? The unit looks good to me otherwise, but this is a must have feature for me. Any other feedback is also welcome!!
Thanks!! |

2 more questions.....
1. Does the S-639 have "2" Custom EQ settings like the S-545? 2. Does it support iTunes? ( I know, I know, but most of my music is already ripped in AAC). The specs say it supports AAC-LC*2, so I'm not sure if that is different from AAC? Thanks again!! Last edited by digital rules; 03-04-2010 at 12:36 PM. |

2. Yes 2 custome EQ settings. 3. No, you can't use iTunes directly but if you download "Content Transfer" from Sony which is better than Sony's software included with the player. You can drag and drop from iTunes to Content Transfer rather easy if you don't want to just find files and drag and drop. Transfers go much faster if you turn off the 12 bar "whatever" analysis in the settings on Content Transfer. You can also transfer Movie and Photos as well very simply. |

Thanks Big Sky!!
I guess it works with "Content Transfer" just like with the S-545. Thanks for the heads up on ther signal analysis settings too!! ![]() I'm hoping the S-639 works better in the car than the S-545 too. For some reason the Sony doesn't play nearly as well as my old iPod on the car stereo, but the Sony works "much" better with headphones??? I'm thinking it's an impedance issue or some type of RF interference with the direct line input to my Pioneer head unit.

Pros -Excellent podcast support (Love the delete feature) -Battery life is noticably better than S-545 -Smaller Size Cons -No voice recorder -No speaker (but not too crazy about speaker anyway-too much of a battery killer) -Accessory choices are very limited Thanks again for all the assistance!! Love the forum!!

I think that the S639 will join the Walkman hall of fame.

Maybe the 545 is defective???? The battery life is about the same as the 5th generation iPod that is rated for 24 hours. Both use about 20% with just one days commute (2.5 hours-equalizer on-light/moderate keypad usage). I've used the 639 for at least 4 hours & the charge indicator still has 4 bars (lots of fiddling-equalizer always on)

What's your screen brightness set to? I haven't compared how big of a difference the EQ makes to the battery life, either....I know it makes a difference in the Sansa players though. Also, are you using the Clear Stereo, and if so, which earphones are you using? Clear Stereo only works with the Sony earphones, that's why I ask....so if you're not using them, then shutting it off could save some battery.

I set the screen brightness to 2, but it didn't seem to make much difference. I am using the Sony 151 headphones & actaully do think I can hear a difference in bass quality with Clear Stereo. I am running the Normalizer also on both units.
The biggest dissapointment is how the 545 works in the car. If you turn the volume much past the halfway point weird thinks start happening(not distortion, but more like an RF interference issue). The 639 can be cranked up to 30 & just sounds great!! |

I've run my S545 into a stereo system this way for 7-8 hours at vol. 25/30 and only used one of the four battery bars.

I don't use the equalizer in the car. I did try all the settings just to see what would happen, but to no avail. I did try using a cassette adaptor on a boom box & the 545 does work great!!
The screen does stay lit for quite a while (30 seconds) on the 545 with no way to control it. The 639 is set to 15 seconds. **By the way; what is DAP?? |

DAP is Digital Audio Player.
