Zen Vision M Stalling

Anyone experienced this problem and has a solution?
I have ZVM and a mac. I use XNJB to transfer music and it has been working well.
I installed XNJB onto a new macbook and plugged in ZVM. The ZVM then seemed to stall, the blue light came on at the switch, but nothing happened. It could not be turned off via the switch but had to be reset.
I have since plugged it into my usual imac and 2 separate pc's running windows. each time the same result. It doesn't matter if I plug it in when it's on or off. I have installed software for ZVM onto daughters laptop with a view to updating firmware or even using Creatives MP3 recovery kit, but get no further than plugging into machine before stalling.
Also just as I started writing this it turned itself on! Otherwise it is working perfectly!
Any ideas to rectify this would be great.
