What BT profiles does the phone support?
"if anyone knows how to make the p3 visible as a device that can receive files via bluetooth please help" Making the P3 discoverable and pairing it with the phone is step one. "I once transfered from a blackberry to my p3 so maybe it's my phone" There's a good chance it is your phone. The Blackberry is a smartphone and smartphones tend to have greater BT profile support. The Rant is what they call a feature phone. They try to fill in as a smartphone but don't have all the capabilites of a smartphone. I don't have a Rant so you need to find out which bluetooth profiles it supports (such as OBEX). Last edited by pgh1969pa; 03-09-2010 at 06:51 AM. |

I've had this problem, but i figured it out.
If you have wi-fi on then turn it off and then try to reconnect to bluetooth. That worked for my phone

Good suggestions guys but I'm gonna have to conclude that it's my phone because it seems to only support file transfer for the FTP protocol, meaning it won't even give me an option to send files to the P3 because it doesn't recognize it as capable of recieving files, it only sends like contacts because I think it only sees it as a headset device so I've basically given up on this

There is also a limitation to the P3. Objects sent through BT to the P3 all end up in the shared folder only. And anything you want to send via BT FROM the P3 must be in that same shared folder.
BT on the P3 is pretty useless except for headsets and phone calls. |

Actually I beg to differ. This is just me but I find bluetooth quite useful in transferring files to both my phone and my P3. For example, if I want a certain song, I would normally have to connect both my phone and my p3 to my laptop via wire which is very inconvenient. But with BT I can just connect my phone and transfer the song and then transfer it over to my P3 via bluetooth.
