Whatever happened to song info in the task bar?

Somewhere between versions 2.5 and 4.0 when the software was minimized you could see the song info scrolling in the task bar. Since 4.0 I believe they removed it. Any ideas? Maybe they figured no one would need it since they added the mini player and toolbar player?
