Default Video conversion?

Hi, I just bought a S545 a couple weeks ago and it's working perfectly, but I'm having some trouble making videos work on the player. Does anyone know of any conversion software that could fix this? Thanks!

Hey Krieg, congratulations and welcome to ABi...

The Sony S [and the sister E series] is extremely finicky when it comes to video formats that will play properly.

There have been a few threads here on this topic. Find them in the Sony S and the Sony E sub forums.

Here is a link to one of them:

Cheers, good luck and enjoy!

Darn, I totally forgot to check the other forum before posting this. Oh well, thanks a lot!

EDIT: Jackpot. I downloaded SUPER and it worked like a charm.

Krieg: No worries! Feel free to ping me/post on the S forum if you have any more questions.

Can def get videos to work, pretty much with a few good free apps, but settings are very defined, with little to no room for error.

cheers! :-)

I hope you will enjoy finding your way. I got now more than 10 different procedures using 4 different softwares, with GUI or using the command-line; and as I live on Linux, I even still have to figure how to make a WMV file!
Have fun deciding which bitrate is the best compromise and metering the fastest. Sometimes I think that converting the video is more fun than watching it on a 2 inches screen...

Sorry if this isn't quite the place to mention this, but I can confirm that Amazon Unbox video downloads do work on my 545. The caveat is that you have to download Amazon's video download client and download the full video along with the portable version when all you want is just the portable video version.
