Default Recommendation: AKG K702 Cable

I recently purchased new AKG K702 Headphones. I love them but they are a tad bit bright. Would changing the cord help address the brightness? The issue stems in part from my choice in music (jazz and classical), lossless compression (FLAC), and occasional audiophile, hi-def files. These files go from my HDD > PreSonus Firebox > AKGs. Lots of reasons for brightness.

I've been researching three models and emailing the manufacturers & vendors of:
Cardas AKG K702
Molecule Customs for K702 by Double Helix
Kimber Cable for AKG K702

I'd appreciate opinions on the above three and any suggestions re others which I have yet to consider. BTW, I have about 100 hrs of natural (listening to music) burn in time. Thanks for reading.

Take Care.

Cables aren't going to change the sound signature enough for it to be audible. You maybe be able to measure a very very slight difference in the metals with machines, but the only difference you will hear will be placebo.

If your headphones are to bright for you then its an easy fix to roll of the highs just a touch with an EQ.

"I refuse to prove that I exist," says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith, I am nothing."

- The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Douglas Adams

The above could just as easily be re-phrased - for example ...

"I refuse to prove that my cables will make your system sound better", says the snake oil vendor, "for proof denies faith, and without faith, you will hear nothing."

The Truth About Interconnects and Cables

Save yourself the money. Cables make no audible difference. Trust in physics. If you can't trust in physics, trust in double blind tests -- and the utter lack of a single successful one. Invest in some good equalizer software and be happy.

Hmm.....$54, $160, $200 for these cables? This is just silly. Use that money for another set of headphones, or for more music, or something.

Syndrome, JxK & Marvin, thanks for writing.

JxK, I do trust in physics. Apparently I don't understand the discipline as well as I thought. I knew that interconnects were all basically the same but I thought that there was a relative difference in speaker wire/headphone cable.

Not so, eh? Has anyone done a blind test comparing for my sake, the AKG factory EK 300 against a Double Helix Molecule Custom Cable? Or perhaps against a HeadRoom's Cardas AKG k702 Mini-XLR; something?

JxK, I read the article you linked me to. It's compelling. It would be more-so if I were a physicist. That's why I'm looking for a blind listening test, something that speaks to my level of understanding.

Here's the original, longer article on the cable scam: http://sound.westhost.com/cables.htm

Does that mean that they aren`t using fully their potential, and a better cable (let`s say shorter, uber emi/rfi protected, pure silver; just for fun) with lower resistance would make them sound better ?
Please re-read this thread.
