I love it. YOU take it apart and screw it up, yet it's somehow Sansa's fault?

Let me guess...you kept your headphone cord wrapped around the player when you weren't using it, correct? That's typically what kills the headphone jack.

I had my first Fuze for a little over a year during which it bounced around in my car, truck, pocket, backpack, luggage, accompanied me to the gym and baseball field on numerous occasions and even survived several lawn-cutting "adventures". I wish it had a meter to keep track of the hundreds of hours of enjoyment it provided.

Based on the above, I'm going to chalk your Sansa experience up to operator error and abuse.
