Just a heads-up but according to Engadget, the Zune Pass will make a debut in the UK soon. Hopefully, that means for the sake of the Zune, it will be available outside of the U.S. soon.

Says Zune Pass and nothing about the Zune Hardware.

As for Zune Pass why would we need that now? We have Spotify and thats free to a point.

You dont necessarily need Zune hardware. Windows Phone 7, Xbox 360, PC, and any web browser are places you can use the Zune Pass.

No its all too late. I wanted this 18 months/two years ago but now other solutions have arrived.

Total indifference awaits Zune Pass in the UK.

The most popular OS in Europe is Symbian by far, and it's compatible with Protected WMA. My understanding was that phones based on Symbian did play Zune Pass music, but I could be mistaken.

Yes most WMA DRM subscription devices will work with Zune Pass though WMP12.

You could be right... zune drm is a subset of windows media drm. plays-for-sure is another subset. A little known fact (and unsupported, thus it could disappear at any time...) is that plays-for-sure devices can play zune DRM'd tracks. But in any event, I would not be at all surprised if symbian devices can play windows media drm'd content.

Indeed, as I said a couple of years ago Zune Pass would have been perfect.

Since then others have come along and filled that gap. The rest of the world largely gave up waiting.
