Default Videos with Rockbox/OF

Do playing videos through Rockbox have any advantages over the original firmware, things such as sound quality, video quality, size, and most of all, un-syncing of the sound from the video?

WinFF will convert for Rockbox. Use the Rockbox e200 setting. video4fuze works nicely for me for the OF.

Why don't you convert a few vids and let us know what your conclusions are?

Default Video on a RockBox-ed Fuze

Of course, Rockbox needs the videos to be MPEG2, rather than the (I think) mpg4 format used by the Sansa firmware.

I have had good luck converting just about any video format into standard MPEG-2 files with Media Coder, which is free and at...

http://www.mediacoderhq.com/index.htm

Be aware, Media Coder is a powerful multi-use tool, so there are lots of features and a little bit of a learning curve. It took me an hour or so of fiddling before I got good output.

Best results for me have been when output file is

Format: MPEG2,
Container: MPEG2

Video: resize to 220 X 176
Frame rate: 25.000

I haven't had a problem with audio sync. My presumption is that some people's problems with audio sync are because of bad conversions, or having too high a resolution and frame rate, and bogging the processor.

My most typical application is to convert various podcast music videos which are usually MP4's... though I have also converted various Xvid (divx) content.

Well, this answered my un-asked question of how to get video in the right size for it.

Thanks.
