Default Wow...my X5 still works

This thing has been put away for a long time and I had forgotten about it until I saw one in the "show off your gear" thread. Put it on the charger for an hour and it booted up. guess I should put it through its paces, could be useful.

bah...it has some issues for sure. The hard drive is clicking and the battery indicator is erratic. everytime the hard drive clicks and whine, the battery indicator drops. also, the headphone jack is messed up. I have to move the plug around to get audio in both channels. Anybody have experience taking these things apart and repairing?

My X5L is still going strong as well. I replaced the HDD with a 32GB CF card in the meantime, making the X5 a 100% better player - faster, shock resistant, lighter, less battery usage.

As for your battery gauge acting erratic - I think that is normal after a year-long deep discharge. It probably needs a few more charging cycles until it's 'stable' again. But yeah, your HDD dying sure might be a reason as well.

As for the headphone jack - it's rather easy opening the X5 up and reflowing the jack's solder joints.

I might have to do the CF card swap, more battery is always good.
