Smile I want to sell my calculator app

Hi,everyone!
I'm a student in China, I'm studing in the University which held the programming contest.I've developed a Calculator which implements most
functions of Casio fx-991es(http://www.voidware.com/calcs/fx991es.htm) except nature display and its function mostly like HiCalc
(http://www.ppclink.com/?ppclink=product&do=view&id=44).
It can calculate in binary, deciaml, octal, hex and solve trigonometric function with degree, randian, gradient and so on.Of course,it can
plot a function's image, and the image can zoom in or zoom out and can be moved.
Especially,it can solve most of the matrix problem, such as multiply, tranpose, inverse, eigenvalue, eigenvector,d eterminant, rank etc.
And it can solve nth-degree equation and nth-order linear equations.Fianlly, there is a funny game like this
(http://www.members.shaw.ca/tfshannon...stal-ball.html).

The problem with trying to sell apps written for the X-fi 2 is that they are very easy to copy and hack. To be able to sell an application you would have to be able to protect it's source code (luac probably isn't enough) and find a way to stop one person buying it, and then simply posting the file online.

I also don't think Creative would buy an application, they're more than capable of writing them themselves. Some developers on here did get given free stuff for writing applications, but that was because they used our work without permission.

Good work though, especially the graph part

After 2 hours work, I've known how to protect my source code with "luac", after my processing, the comiled file(using luac to compile the source code) can't be decompiled using "luadec", even using it with any option(except the option "-dis", but the assemble code is hard to read).

If you look back to the first thread in this forum, you'll find out how we decompiled the Sudoku program with luadec.

ThievingSix is right,we can decompile "Sudoku" game and the 'Calculator" app hiden in the firmware using the tool "luadec". I can also decompile the compiled file of my software without any processing in the source code. However, if you add some special experssions in the source code and compile it using "luac", you'll find when you try to decompile it with "luadec", you can't get anything.

Personally I dont think you have a really large market unless its an easily accessible 99 cent download.

If you really wanted to make some money find a way to rewrite the XFi2's OS and make it user friendly.

99 cent? US cent or Chinese cent? I want to sell it in US $0.99~$1.99.But I really think you're joking, if I have the ability to rewrite OS, do I need to sell my software here?

I'm going to make some things clear:

As far as I can tell:

1) We will never be selling applications. If we somehow make one that Creative wants BEFORE we release it, they will contact and attempt to buy rights.

2) We won't be, in the near future, be rewriting the XFi2 OS. Mind you, that's not just because we could.

this calculator app is far better than that one datallboy.

and that sounds great, but there just isnt a big enough market for X-fi 2 games.

We are not getting paid to make apps here. We do this in our free time. If we can make a nice qaulity app then 99c is pretty reasonable. I would be one who if i made an app that took me while and i thought was very nice quality try and sell it if it would be safe. But like ThievingSix we can decompile anything so far.

As for the paying part it is all about how nice is the app and is the price reasonable. If yes to both then i for one would pay for an app

no one said that we would be selling apps. It has been proven that we cant make our apps 100% secure so it would be pointless. But you statement "but then everyone will make apps to pay for then no one will get any free ones anymore" is not true. look at andriod devices they can charge for apps but there are still free ones.
