I've had my sansa fuze for awhile now and it randomly turns itself all the way up and wont get back down for a while. After its turns itself up if you turn it down the volume level bar goes down and the icon under it shows mute but its still playing at max. Any ideas on what the problem is.

I have absolutely no idea what could be causing your problem, but i can offer the idea to update your firmware to the newest which may fix this problem.

I was looking at that link you posted and was wondering what is "rockbox" people were saying to use it to update the firmware.

Rockbox is an 3rd party firmware created by dap fans for dap fans, it adds a lot of features most official firmware doesn't. This link will give you a good idea as to what rockbox offers.
http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/WhyRockbox Another idea someone on irc had was to ask if the buttons are sticking at all on your player, from sitting on it often or something like that, which can produce the problem you have.
