Help Error Handling

I was looking around on the web for information about Lua's error handling. It appears there is a try() catch() statement of some kind. Does anyone know if this works with the player? If not, what about this? If we could, I would suggest to every developer that they put their entire program in a try() catch() block, simply so that the player doesn't crash when an error occurs.

I have no idea if this works or not. Don't you think it's easiest just to try it out in some simple code and see if it crashes or not when it's used? I think that's the only way we'll get a straight answer.
