Why Does the M1 has a limit of 10 Uci theme (+the 4 default themes)
Whenever i try to install more themes some of the older themes not show up, only when i have no more than 10 uci themes (14 with the default) all themes show up
why is that?

I don't know the reason and I'm not sure it is useful to ask Samsung as they won't change that (if ever they are able to change it... maybe it's a firmware restriction)

There is not much R&D dedicated to the DAPs (most resources are used for the mobile phones) so Samsung prefer to use the R&D for developing new models rather than to support the old models. Of course we would be happy if they released firmwares that add new features. But would they really sell more then? (like any big company, Samsung just care on sales and money). No, they wouldn't. Most people who buy a Samsung mp3 player don't even know they can upgrade the firmware...
The latest players from Samsung are the Q3 and U6. The Galaxy Player 50 has not been released yet.

I agree that's stupid not to offer a HDMI cable. So the big deal is just to avoid the user to convert his HD videos into SD. Adding that HD support is very very restrictive (actually the M1 can't play most HD videos), there is no big deal. HD support is just a marketing argument.

I have the 32gb M1. My question is about the 5000 files limit. The M1 seems to index more songs than 5k, but does some weird things (cannot include songs on playlist, message "file not found" via file manager, but the song is still indexed, etc).
I red about this limit (I think) in the manual.
A 5000 files limit is pretty low for a 32gb device, don't you think? I use it mainly for 128 kbps songs, averaging 3-4 mb each. That gives you between 8k and 10k songs.
Is there any plans to increase this limit in a future firmware? Is there another workaround about this you know of?

Well, indeed a 5000 files limit is a bit low for 32GB but maybe Samsung expected its customers to be more demanding about sound quality, 'cause 128kbps is very bad
I don't know why there is such a limit but I assume it's not for their pleasure, it's probably a software limitation. There is no plan to increase this limit, I'm even pretty sure there is no plan for a new firmware release.
The only workaround I can see is to gather all songs from an album in one single file but that's not very pratical...

hello folks,

i just bought a 2nd handed yp-m1
it packed with 1.32 yp-mb1 (korean version) firmware
so right now there is TV, dictionary, and map routes menus in my m1
tried to upgrade it with 1.35 international m1's firmware
but no change
the player still boots with yp-mb1 logo shown at booting screen + korean menu
does anybody know how to reverse the firmware to original m1 ?

What is it written on the back as model number? (example: YP-M1JCB/XEF)

There is a hardware difference between the M1 and MB1 so that is is impossible to install a M1 firmware on a MB1.

If you really have a MB1, you can only upgrade to fw 1.35 for MB1:

what written in the back is YP-M1 & no TV antenna afterall
with YP-M1CB model number
the front logo is "samsung" not "YEPP"
like i said before, i bought it secondhanded with yp-mb1 1.32 firmware installed on it.
i tried to upgrade it with M1's 1.35 international firmware
do everything as the tutorial but my M1 seems not detect the firmware file
then i try to rename the firmware file from "YP-M1" to "YP-MB1"
and it's installed successfully,, of course with TV menu and korean stuffs.
just by renaming the file,,

and i have another problem here,
my microSD slot cant read any card at all
but when i connect it to PC,, the PC recognize the slot but the icon is transparent while there is a card inside
do you know anything about this prob ?? is it hardware side or firmware side (because i'm using YP-MB1 firmware)

Oo that's very strange. I can't understand how the previous owner got a MB1 firmware on a normal M1. Maybe that would be possible with the Samsung flashing tool (but it is not available to the general public) but it's not possible with a normal upgrade.
But well, that's not a big issue as you can remove the TV icon and other Korean stuff. And you can also turn it to EU region code. Just put this file at the root (if it doesn't work, edit it and write "YP-MB1" instead of "YP-M1" )

Regarding the microSD slot, there is no known issue about it. I can't tell you if it is a hardware or software problem, that's so strange

Listening to wma files in playlist today--suddenly the music stops. Screen says "this file is an unsupported type" now suddenly NONE of my subscription wma files will play. I have tried reauthorizing on Rhapsody, refresh with emo dio. No luck! What happened & how do I fix it? THANKS for any help!
