Custom patched Rockbox builds for Fuze v1/v2 - DFKT

Since some people asked about it, I compiled the same builds for the Fuze that I already do for the Clip players. These builds are untested since I don't have a Fuze, but they should behave just the same as my Clip builds.

Included patches are:

• FS#00000 - Meier Crossfeed v4 (removes the default crossfeed and implements both Bertrik's Meier v2 and v3 crossfeeds)
• FS#00000 - Channel Swap (selectable in sound settings > channel configuration, great for IEMs that are more comfortable with the left bud in the right ear, and vice versa)
• FS#09305 - Context sensitive backlight on key press
• FS#11052 - SID playback in stereo
• FS#11304 - Higher quality audio HW settings for AS3543 (Clipv2, Clip+ and Fuzev2)
• FS#12075 - Add timeout to quickscreen

Do these builds have the USB patch?

No, only the crossfeed. I whipped them up quickly for a friend who was interested in how the Meier crossfeed sounds.

If you want I can build you the same one I did for the Clip+.

FWIW I updated the VM image here:

It now has the correct compiler already installed, so if you want to test various patches, its not too hard. Install vmware, download the image, boot it, then run patch/configure/make for whatever builds or patches you want.

That would be great.....my V2 is the one I keep my 16GB card in. Granted, my refresh times are quicker than some of our other members, but it would be nice to bypass them altogether.

Builds have USB enabled, backlight on keypress, permanent sleep timer, and Meier crossfeed. Not tested - I have no Fuze.

Nothing wrong with Shakira....I've got three albums.(gratuitous Mediamonkey pic below)

And I'll be trying this build out but I won't have much time available to try it out the next couple days...but certainly over the weekend I will.

Agreed, there is absolutely nothing wrong with Shakira – despite her music, I mean.

But more important: That's an awesome build, dfk! Here is what I found:

- I'm a crossfeed fanatic and tested the v2 build. Well, what can I say? It sounds fantastic! Definitely a lot cleaner than the standard crossfeed.

- Rockbox USB wasn't detected at first (I'm on Windows 7), but after unplugging and replugging the device it worked. Very nice.

- "Backlight on keypress only" isn't working. The backlight is always turned on upon changing the volume.

That's the same behavior I've found with my Clip+ with the USB patch.....there has been a couple times I had to unplug and then replug, but the last couple times I connected it it was immediately detected. If it will work the same way on the Fuze, that will be great.

I just installed the v2 build, and as Progweed said, at first, it did not"install device drivers" according to Windows.....unplug and replug, and then it was fine.....two subsequent connections have been successful.

This should really help lestatar with his half-hour database refresh times....lol.

Yes!

Btw, there is a neat "trick" to avoid that annoying database refresh with the original firmware:

- Set Rockbox to "Show all files"
- Delete the two folders beginning with ## (nothing bad will happen, this is where the OF stores its database)
- Fill up the internal memory with music until only about 150 MB (or less) of free space is left
- After unplugging the device the OF will complain about not having enough room for its database and shut down immediately. No refresh.

Yes, this "bug" is certainly the best "feature". Especially when one simply forgets to turn the player on before connecting.

On the Clip+ the two "##" folders can also be seen when the player is connected to the computer via Rockbox USB, so you can delete them from Windows Explorer too (and also the useless files that are hidden in the root directory of the player, like RES_INFO.SYS, SYS_CONF.SYS, version.sdk).
