Hi,
I remember a tool leaked from Samsung was able to reset a bricked P2 (and other players) with the default firmware and flash content. Is there a version of that tool available for the Samsung P3, please? Everytime the P3 database gets corrupted (most recently because of a simple 700MB snowboard video...), the player is bricked and must be sent back to factory. It will be ok (well, dont expect me to buy another samsung player...) until the warranty ends, but afterward I would like to be able to reset the P3 content myself. Thanks & Regards; |

The P3 recovery tool is not available for consumers. Only the Samsung after-sales service and some people like me have it.
This tool is unstable and dangerous and may damage your P3 for good and cancel the warranty. It can't be shared without a good tutorial and even with a tutorial there is still a huge risk to destroy the device. I have never tried it as my P3 is probably the most stable Samsung mp3 player I have. So maybe if one day I have to use it, I'll make a tutorial and share the tool. Or maybe it will never be shared. In fact, I don't really want and don't really have time to provide support for this tool. And this tool cannot be available to the general public without a strong support. I'm sorry about that. The P2 and P3 recovery tools seem to be very close so it would not surprise me if the P2 recovery tool can unbrick the P3. I won't try it. But you are free to try.

When my p3 was bricked, its main board has been replaced, and now i have extra main board, i tried different things to make it work:
First of all processor must be switched into the recovery mode, to do this you must hold power and reset buttons and insert datalink cable at the same time(its for all telechips media processors) After it a special drivers must be installed, so that pc can undersdand new device mode. I have found drivers for recovery mode of telechips tcc79xx processor(tcc7901) here http://forum.mp3store.pl/topic/23079.../page__st__520 some links to telechips web site, there i have found tcc79 documentation and sample apps sources, it have drivers and fwdn, but fwdn designed for smartv7(as i undersdand it must be some chinesee smartphone). Fwdn from p2 doesnt work, it displays device connected, then device removed, but write button stays unavaliable. Another thing i dont know why board detected on pc in recovery mode, i am not pressing any buttons just connect it, maybe because its disconnected from player, maybe because in the service centre they made something to it. So, the conclusion: 1) This archives on telechips site contain a lot of interesting information, which can be usefull for someone who would like to port rockbox 2) I can do some tests with my main board, because there is nothing to lose now

The drivers on mp3store.pl seem to be the good ones. But there is not the correct FWDN version and you miss the necessary ROM file.
