Hello all,
I have a sansa fuze sandisk, I bought a few weeks back, just a small 4gb internal, I also added 8gb external to it. When I copied a bunch of musics/cds/folders with music over, occasionally i will get a number perpended to it: So for example a folder called takeoffyourpants (blink 182), now becomes: 24120000_takeoffyourpants the songs are fine inside and play normally, if I rename via my pc, conect via usb, rename file on fize, its ok, but then post refresh a different folder will have a similar experience. Please help so annoying! Version v02.03.33a |

You are set to MTP protocol (or Autodetect is pushing you to MTP). Many of us here prefer MSC (myself included).
I recently made some changes to a friend's Clip+ that was set to MTP. When I copied a folder to the Clip everything was fine. But if I created the folder on the Clip+ or renamed a folder, then the name screwed up. Numbers appended to the front (in one case 00000000) or other scrfewy things. I don't know the solution, but there are numerous threads about this problem already. Perhaps you can look for those threads and see if there are any useful suggestions (besides switching to MSC). Signed, a happy MSC user ![]() Steve |

Oh thanks for the quick reply, I am sure I can switch from mtp to msc, could you explain the difference and how to switch, what are the consequences?
I just dump folders via usb PC to the sansa and hope it shows up fine, then just play the music, very simple. thanks again! |

see the glossary at the bottom of my sig for some short definitions of msc and mtp.
I also agree for Fuze, MSC is the way to go. However, if you simply set it now, with the music still on the device from MTP mode, when you connect the Fuze to your PC after changing to MSC mode, YOU WILL NOT SEE the music from before. This is a widely known problem with Sandisk devices. So... If you want to change to MSC mode, I would: - copy all the songs back to your PC [if you don't already have copies there]; - change to MSC mode; - format/wipe out the player; - then start again from scratch. This will ensure you have a clean, MSC only environment on your Fuze. And LEAVE IT on MSC. Do not use AUTO-Defect - this mode tries MTP first and confuses things further. cheers and good luck! -les
