30GB ZVM won't recognize new MP3s

I have a 30GB ZVM that won't recognize any new MP3s that I copy onto it. They're there, I've verified with several different computers. I can browse to them, they just don't show up. I've tried retagging them, running disk cleanup, even reformatting. (The reformatting really sucks, because now I have no usable music on it at all...) I can play the MP3s just fine on my computer in several different players, tags come up correctly. I use Linux, if it makes any difference. (It shouldn't. I can copy the tracks off the player and play them on a windows machine, so they're not corrupted. and I can copy them back from a windows machine onto the player.. it just seems to be blind to new music.)

try using a windows machine to put them on, do a sync instead of drag and drop see if that changes anything
