Have both a Fuse v1 and a v2, one needing a new screen and the other needing a new case. Want to make one silk purse out of two sow's(sp) ears. Which way to go and why?

As far as I know, the v2 gets better battery life in Rockbox (though this might have changed recently).
Aside from that though, I think they're pretty much identical. |

Thanks sunami, now to get the screens out and the v1 screen into the v2 - more study on the teardown sticky. Hope I'm not the only one to (stupidly) try this!!

Success! Silk Purse lives again. The screen from a Fuze v1 (Ebay - USED - severely abused but worked) has been transplanted to Fuze v2 (Ebay -Parts Only -like new but with broken screen). Most diffucilt part was splitting the case open - remember to start with the connector end and work toward the "top" on both sides. Reconnecting the ribbon connectors from the screen and especially the rotary switch required some repeated effort. Those (black in v1 or brown in v2) locking flaps must be either "UP" to release or "DOWN" (flat) to lock.
Now if I can only get both my FUZE and e260 to be recognized(by SMC both versions and fuze4). Took pix which might supplement the dissemble "sticky" but must upload to Fotobucket. |
