Is Samsung still actively selling MP3 players in the US

Been looking at some of their players, as I've had pretty good luck with Samsung stuff over the years. Looks like no one is really carrying their stuff anymore in the US, short of some refurbs and the occasional scoundrel on ebay.

Was wondering if anyone knows if they are still committed to this market in the US?

Well samsung.com shows 17 "models" of mp3 players for the USA. Thats really 5 players in different colours & sizes.

OTOH, samsung.com/ca shows NONE for Canada.

Samsung USA is still selling mp3 players but this division is dying (no communication/marketing, not all models are available).
If they can't sell more devices with the new Galaxy Player series, the DAP division will probably disappear soon as it is already the case in many other countries (including Canada)

any chance we'll actually see the Samsung Galaxy 4.0/ 5.0 wifi devices in the U.S?

That is a good question. No real offical word from Samsung.

I think Samsung's lack of activity, promotion, and product is self evident. I'd write Samsung off as a 'has been' myself in the mp3 player world.

The new Android devices are only released in Korea for the moment but are coming in Europe in some months and 2 new non-Android mp3 players are also coming.
Samsung is not dead yet, in Asia and Europe at least

They are retreating in some smaller european countries too. They're pretty much done outside Asia. Korea is thier healthiest market. The smartphone / tablet fad will finish them off in the next couple of years. Mark the date. The Samsung business unit that handles smartphones, tablets, and mp3 players will be one product lighter. The culling of the mp3 market is well underway.
