Default Rockbox killed my Clip+'s Battery life
On an average, I used to get ~13hrs on my recently purchased Clip+, with minimal to medium UI access. I had rockboxed it a week later after I bought it, but didn't get much of a chance to use it.

Now I did, and I'm sorely disappointed. Seems like RB slaughtered my Clip's battery life. I barely manage to squeeze ~2 hours with minimal screen usage now, both in OF and RB.

Connecting to a pc in MTP shows the Clip's battery as broken, while previously it used to show the remaining charge.

Is there no other way to fix this than send for replacement? Its a bit cumbersome to do the latter, but then again.

If the battery is really broken, then no you can't fix that short of replacing the battery.

I doubt it....Rockbox improved the battery life of my two Clip+'s.

I don't think software can really kill a battery, so its probably just defective.

From my experience with the iRiver H320, there was also a known issue with the battery performance when Rockbox was installed on it. There were numerous events, and I believe it's also on the Rockbox site. I don't think the same issue is with the clip, however, because other people would have posted this also.

EDIT: I cannot locate the link to the poor H300 series battery life but Linus can confirm this. He was the developer for the H300 Rockbox port.

It wouldn't be a defective piece especially when I got ~13 hours before RB.

13 hours is actually pretty low. Regardless, if its getting only a few hours its very obviously defective.
