X7 playlist functionality & firmware

For what seems like forever, I have been debating which player to pick up (see my post where I explain what I'm considering).

I'm almost 100% sold on the X7, but the playlist features are holding me back. It is extremely important to me that I can create playlists easily - and eventually on the player itself.

I know firmware updates have fixed many of the issues since the X7 was first launched, but I am wondering if anyone has any knowledge of things getting better on the playlist front (via a computer or on the player). In addition, has anyone heard anything about firmware being developed (by Cowon or a third party) that will make playlist creation easier?

Creating playlists are a bit anemic on the X7, and on the J3 as well. Playlists are called favorites, and I believe only one playlist can be present on the player at one time. (If someone knows better on this subject please correct me.)

You can't create playlists on the go as it were. You can only add tracks to favourites to a maximum of 256. However you can create playlists independently using software...I use Winamp, and then transfer them to the X7 or J3. They work.....something that didn't on the S9.

Is there a known limit to number of songs in a playlist? I've a playlist with 475 songs and it appears to be cutting off the first 128, leaving me with 347.

I just read on another site that there is no "random" feature (as in a way to shuffle the songs), but there was no confirmation by another user. Is this true?

Songs can be shuffled according to artist, etc. I am not sure if songs can be shuffled according to playlist.
