These will also work with WM and Android.

Not true. Android is different altogether. For Android, you have to double the horizontal resolution due to the way home screens scroll the background. For example, if you have a 480x800 screen, you need a 960x800 wallpaper, otherwise, the phone will ask you to crop the screen.

For example, the default wallpaper on my Droid Incredible (960x800), see attachment.

I forgot about the multiple screens thing on Android, but if you only have a single homescreen like me then it works.

EDIT: Oh I guess I've been using a cropped wallpaper all this time, better go change it.
EDIT2: Just found a nice app that allows WVGA wallpapers on different home screens if you wanted: MultiPicture Live Wallpaper, has an option to rotate the images within the folder or you could set it to be static.
