does USB to car stereo work?

i've just spent $340 on a D3 thinking i'd be able to use it in the car. i can't. i have to buy a different one now, so i need to know before i do. it shouldn't matter what stereo i have, but it's Alpine IVA-W505. i used search for "car usb" and it didn't find anything. will one of you tell me honestly, please? thanks!

if it does, it's in the back on the inside of the dash meant for navs and cameras. i can live with having to buy a different one, but don't want to get one unless it works for others. i know most ipods will, but no. X7 is my next choice, then J3 if that doesn't work. i appreciate the suggestion, though.

i found small print in the Alpine manual that tells me it only reads up to FAT32. the D3 is NTFS. i think X7 is FAT32, so i'm going to assume it works. it's going to be a couple of months before i can get it, though.
