The clever hacker and homebrew community over at XDA forums have come up with an alternate exe file that will apparently allow non-dev unlocked phones to be backed up, then pointed at the Mango Beta update servers to get Mango onto the handset.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1149265 Many are reporting success. HOWEVER, if you are thinking about doing this - consider: 1) MS are unlikely to be as supportive again as they were with "Walshied" Phones at NoDo release from the Chevron team tools saga. 2) This will invalidate your warranty and your phone will not have any official support (OEM, Carrier, MS) as soon as you hit go. 3) If you lose your backup....there may be no way to get the official Mango update when later released. The oficial upgrade path from the beta Mango program is to restore NoDo then resume regular updates once released. So - the link is there, for good or evil. As a last comment - if you have your mind set on giving it a go - make sure you follow the instructions explicitly. 1 mistake will screw you. <no liability or responsibility for any that click on that link!> Sheeds.
