If you live in Canada. I've seen them dip to 30-40 dollars before too.

I'm sure other photoshops sells these at better prices.

Haha, reminded me of the wife and I going through the airport the other day with our gear. An iPad 2, TouchPad, Bowers & Wilkins p5 headphones, Nook Color, Clip+, Dell Venue Pro, Sony Nex-5 camera with 2 lenses, Sennheiser headphones, and her Blackberry all stuffed into my Oakley Kitchen Sink backpack. She laughed and said a thief would have a field day with that backpack.

RIP. Time to repost an ancient pic. I'll never forget how my MD player left me wondering why in comparison most MP3 players appeared to suck so much, for the longest time.

They were rewritable. And I always found it astonishing how my little mini disc player could write mini discs...only downside was the Atrac-encoding. Took a lot of time (real time). And then the space-saving modes came only with the later models. But I loved the small remote controls they normaly featured. I'd really love one for my Sansa Fuze (...Sandisk, are you listening?!?)

JE510 rules! Mine's workin' since 96/97, sometimes as a player/recorder, sometimes as a competent DAC, sometimes as a headphone amp.

I have tow portables as well, but thei're not with me right now and I don't have photos.

Anyone knows if the MD cartridges will be discontinued too?

Probably not... And considering it's a Fuze, definitely not.

I have a question are they up to standards with the DAP's to date?

I had 2 MD players - a Sony NetMD N505 and a HiMD Sony MZ-RH710. Either one of them are up to standards with the DAPs we have today. In fact, right before I finally sold off the RH710, I did one last comparison with my player of choice at the time, the Sansa Fuze, and I swear that the sound was just a tad clearer. Whether this was just my imagination or some sort of nostalgic bias, I don't know, but the point is, sound-wise, those great players are still respectable today.

And am I right in recalling they were an earlier pioneer for metadata/track info etc - compared to other formats ? And also from memory (its been maybe 7years+ since I recorded anything) - but the quality of the D/A Converter on the JE510 was bloody awesome, recordings sounded really crisp and clear - despite the compression.

Damn, I see that I'm a few pages late to the party showing off rucksacks and other gear enclosures.

Here's my new space-age high-tech custom netbook protection.

Here's some photos for the MD memorabilia:

The Sony MZ-E60. Crappy, fed on AA batteries, but still working after often mistreated. Still have the original package, the slipcase, the wired remote and the hphones.

Shown nearby a vintage digital Pioneer FX-50 FM stereo digital tuner, a Cambridge Audio Azure 540p phono MM preamp and a Yashica 8mm camera.

And nearby the Sony MDS-JE510 MD player, connected throug a DIY 3.5-2RCA cable (made of cat5e solid core network wire, finished with stranded shoelaces).

The rest of my portable audio setup: Sansa Fuze v2 8Gb + 8 Gb; rewired sansa headphones; Pioneer headphones; silicone case.Shown here goin' round a Pro-ject Debut II record player:
