Sony NWZ-A82X service manual - Test mode works for S61X series also

Hello everyone, I contacted a sony analyst, and they claim its not available for this model:


Mitchell_ > I found the information about the NWZS638F Player from the U.K. website.
Mitchell_ > This Player doesn't have any Demo Mode feature.

Mitchell_ > Qays, I have searched for the Demo or Test Mode in the Player. But, this Player doesn't have that feature.


Although I think these analysts do not have much power, and search the websites for the answers. We just need that service manual which is not available on the net yet!

EDIT: He then said the models service manual has not yet been released as the model has not been released yet, so a service manual might be out soon, and we may find a test mode code inside it.

Anyone successful with it on this model at all?

I'll keep looking and post it when I get a copy. Seems that it'll be a guarded secret w/Sony ATM though.

Don't think they like us playing around in the service menu & complaining about their default settings!!! Oh, well, too bad for Sony - we'll get it sooner or later!!!

HEy the dark side tried your exact settings but I reckon there kinda over done. Do u have any other recommended settings?

I use:

-6.0 100HZ BASS

1.5 15Hz Treble

Dsee, clear stereo ON
Dynamic normalizer OFF

Do u mind trying this settings and can u give me some feed back about it?

I use these settings myself:
Bass: +0.00
Treble: -4.5
Dsee, clear stereo: OFF
Dynamic normalizer: ON
+ I use the CUSTOM EQ w/different settings w/different headphones.
ONLY the custon EQ BTW. also, I've noticed that the player sounds spectacular w/the EQ off, prob gonna' be trying to listen natural pretty soon & thinking about getting an amp - Fiio first, then the Pico!!!

Hey tried your settings again. For me it really sounds unnatural even when the EQ was flat. But I guess all of us has different taste. I'll just probably stick to my old settings. I just wanna know wat headphones are u using?

HD555 are out of my league! I've been using HD202's and 212's, and also my favs, the PX100's! On occasion I use my Panasonic HTX7's - they sound great also.

Hello, im getting into this.
I have some questions...on Bass:
the lower the frecuency-more bass or less bass?
negative number gain means more bass or...
When the gain is zero, do i get less bass?

Why you change the treble frecuency to 15Hz?, is this acute or neutral

Lower + more bass - YES. If you use the (-) it means your making the bass less, or lower. Same goes for the treble, as using (-) cuts the high frequencies down. The A78X/A82X series has the treble over-boosted.

can someone provide me with the default settings for tgain and bgain for S618F? I changed the settings but I forgot the default.

I have access to the service menu, but in the DAC B-GAIN and T-GAIN, I can only change the GAIN, not the FC (Frequency). It shows on the screen, I see DAC BASS FC : 50 Hz and DAC TREBLE FC : 5 kHz, but I can't change these values, even if I tried every buttons.

I can just change this :

DAC BASS GAIN : from -10.5 to 0.0
DAC TREBLE GAIN : from -10.5 to +1.5

So how can you change the value of DAC FC (like 100 Hz instead of 50 Hz and 15 kHz instead of 5 kHz)?
