Default Rockbox 3.9 with USB patch
Just compiled Rockbox 3.9 with amaury pouly's USB-PIO patch..

Download at http://dl.free.fr/hNjET3qUO.

Working fine for me on 7 64-bit.

Enjoy.

EDIT: changed to actual 3.9 release instead of fresh SVN, which had a database commit bug.

Thanks for sharing your compilation. USB is working for me, also on Win7 x64.

Hope someone will soon find time to make a 3.9 build with this patch for the Clip +!

It would be to good to be true if this patch really worked reliably. For me it crashes all the time, and doesn't work at all with the external SD card (Win 7 x64 too )

Go figure. I've got a 32GB card installed (AData Class 4). Puzzling why it would work well for some and very poorly for others. I have to wonder if the difference is related to the USB connection, either cable or USB port on the computer.

Haven't tried it on my Clip+ yet (still using dfkt's 101214 build with the older USB patch and Meier v2 there), but appreciate padavoine providing that build too.

Either there are some minor differences between the Fuze V2 production runs causing some revisions to be unstable or it depends on the computer's USB controller, I yet have to try it on some other hosts.

Confusingly, the Clip+ with the same patch connects stable on the same computer... now what's the logic in this?

UPDATE: After writing this, I suddently got an idea and yes: it actually is the HID support, which isn't enabled on the Clip+. When I disable the HID function on the fuze USB works fine even with the external memory. Yiha!

You're talking about the function that allows the Fuze (DAP / PMP) buttons/wheel to control the PC's media player, correct?

Not a very useful feature if you already have a keyboard attached with buttons which can do that.

Just searched the Rockbox Fuze V2 manual to see how to disable it, and came up empty. What's the menu path?

Yepp.

It's in settings -> system -> USB HID

I was a bit too enthusiastic though. The Fuze still crashes occasionally when connecting - but with HID and external SD it didn't work at all.

Well the driver itself doesn't actually work correctly. I think some people just get lucky and their PC's USB controller is much more tolerant of corrupted data and other errors.

Nice. When I noticed that copying via the Rockbox-USB of 3.9 didn't work I just started to use the Sansa Firmware for that part (pressing left when plugging in)...That always works

This is probably complete voodoo, but in my experience it tends to work if I plug in the USB cable on the Fuze side before I plug it in on the computer side, and not if I do it the other way around.

Any chance of getting 3.10 with this patch please?

This patch works for me.

1. HID on
2. When removing device, click on safely remove device, select eject sd card drive (in fuze), in windows taskbar. No crashes so far.

According to posters on the Clip forums, since 31372 it is working very well. Earlier builds were reported still problematic by some.
