Zen sees computer as an electrical socket

Hi, I'd be very thankful if you could help me, becouse I can't find an answer to my problem anywhere. Sorry for my english too.

My computer doesn't see my player at all (it doesn't even react when I connect it) and my player doesn't see computer either. When I connect my ZEN to it, player is turning on and sometimes it's starts charging as if my computer was an electrical socket.
I tried several different wires and computers. I formated, rebooted, cleaned my player: NOTHING. It remains the same: after conecting it starts charging or just turning on for a minute. I can't even update my ZEN.

Besides that everything with my ZEN works correctly. Anyone?

Given that you have already tried different computers and different leads, it sounds like a hardware failure to do with the USB interface in the Zen.

Are you lucky enough that you are still in the warranty period?

Otherwise, I guess you are reduced to using the microSD to transfer files to the player.

I bought this ZEN 1 year ago... Well, I am angry now becouse I cannot find neither paper of warranty and proof of purchase. I have only this box with leads and some manuals. Great. Even if shop will send me copy of facture, it's worth nothing without warranty, right? What can I do now? ;/

It could be something misconfigured with the USB interface on the computer.
Try it on a different machine before you do anything more.

My ZEN is acting weird regarding that, too. It kept randomly shutting itself off, so I reset it. Now, when I try to connect it to the computer, Windows 7 recognizes that a device has been connected, but the ZEN doesn't seem to want to mount as a portable HDD.

As it is, I'm just treating it as though it's bricked, since it won't do anything. It lasted 1.5 years, so not too bad, I suppose.

Of course, I never backed anything up, so when I get a new MP3 player, I'll have to redownload everything... Yay.
