I assumed that by the time it needs a new battery that technology may have advanced sufficiently to warrant getting a newer unit. Since mine is still relatively new I haven't looked for a replacement battery yet.
If the price is reasonable I'd prefer to replace the battery so long as the device is working well otherwise. |

Here is one place that I have found replacement batteries for the Zen V Plus:
http://www.megacapacity.com/689.html According to Creative's site, the Zen V Plus model number is DAP-FL400 DAP-FL0040 ZEN V Plus http://193.95.171.83/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WE...com,case=10848 |

Also, go to eBay and search for "DAP-FL0040." You'll find scads of replacement batteries for the Zen V Plus there.
Let us know if any of them work.

I've had mine for 10 months, and the battery is dead. I did pry the Zen apart. There's 3 plastic pieces that hold it together. Just wedge a common screwdriver on the lower front piece first. Then remove the upper piece around the viewing screen;
http://i33.tinypic.com/2rnhhfm.jpg The little monitor is held into position using double face tape. Gently pry it away from the circuit board. DO NOT REMOVE THE RIBBON CABLE. Let it hang by the cable. Then remove the two screws holding the board to back piece. The battery is mounted on the back side with double face tape pry it off and use a soldering iron to remove it from the circuit board. http://i36.tinypic.com/8vqg61.jpg http://i37.tinypic.com/20kspis.jpg |

I ruined my battery after washing my player with the laundry. I successfully replaced the battery but I would NOT recommend doing this unless you are experienced with detailed soldering work.
This is not a plug and play battery. The positive and negative leads will have to be painstakingly re-soldered onto the board in very tight confines. |

Yeah, Creative seems to like the way of a non-replaceable battery. Even the newer Zen and Zen X-Fi is this way; battery soldered to the mainboard. A little more of a pain, but still replaceable by someone with some soldering experience.

The good news is, if you can replace the battery on your own, the battery will be an upgrade. The replacement I bought was a 650mah, whereas, the stock battery is a 570mah.
The bad news is, if you screw up the soldering, you wasted $20 and will have to buy a new MP3 player anyway. |

Hello,
These guys sell two versions of original Creative batteries, one with a flying lead, and the others with connector fitted, at very good prices. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005MC4HWI https://www.amazon.co.uk/Genuine-Bat...6123183&sr=8-4 |
