Can anyone recommend devices with similar specs/features, in a similar price range to the SGP? I'm having a really hard time finding Android tablets under 7" that aren't also phones.
I want to pick up an Android internet tab / mp3 player, but I don't think I can get a phone for this purpose. Here in Canada it seems like most unlocked phones are 500-900 dollars, or $500+ per year with a contract. Here's what I've been able to come up with, please add suggestions if you have any. Archos 43 Internet Tablet Cowon D3 Sony S2 (unreleased?) |

Are you sure it has Android Market? It doesn't look like it has the necessary hardware to be "blessed" by Google to ship the google-branded apps (GMS, including marketplace).

Would like to see some user reviews of the ice smart player...
Not a captive touch screen and only 256 megs of ram.. But the more that comes out to rival the touch the better... |

I've never owned a resistive touch device, the resistive touch on the Archos 43 is about the only thing keeping me from ordering one today. (I know, this discussion belongs in the Archos forum), but thanks for the suggestions. I'd never heard of the Ice Smart and it looks pretty cool too.
I'm drawing the line at Aug. 20th before I give up on the SGP ever coming to my market. |

Looks like it is missing a few hardware features like cameras, bluetooth and GPS, but has both markets and decent codec support. I don't own one, but am considering getting one to try out. |

Well, today was supposed to be yet another "horizon date" for the device in North America, I was hoping to get the 8GB SGP 4, but now I think I'll pick up the 8GB Archos 43 instead

Why would today be a "horizon" date? All of the days I've waited for the Samsung PMP to show up for sale in the U.S. have run together as one identical Ground Hog Day movie rerun.

Someone in the availability thread called BestBuy and an associate there told them Aug 20th was the "horizon date" in their system. Your guess is as good as mine what that meant. It didn't come out today, nor did they update it with a concrete release date, though.

How do these compare to the Sony Walkman Z?

Sony's S tablet is now available. Curious how long it'll take them to make that PMP available. Wouldn't mind getting one myself.

Well, the Samsung players are much more expensive in Korea than the versions slated for the USA. Hopefully the same would apply with these Sony ones.
