There's no comparison. The camera in the iPod Touch has been known to be lackluster at best.

As with any phone/PMP camera you'll need good light to get a good photo. Outdoor photos should be easy enough to look good. I haven't taken anything worth keeping in my dark interior rooms. No one should consider these cameras a replacement for a good dedicated pocket camera.
