I just got my Samsung 4.0 (a French import from France) and upon finally being able to connect it to Kies, it prompted me to install a firmware update.
I duly accepted, and the firmware was downloaded succesfully. However, my player is now stuck in an endless reboot cycle. I have tried uninstalling the apps that I downloaded, turned off wireless, taken out the battery and all sorts, but it just keeps on freezing, before rebooting (starting with the Samsung welcome screen). This in effect renders my device as a brick. It's driving me mad. My patience has worn VERY thin with Samsung. If anyone has any advice they can offer (besides taking a hammer to the device), I'd be very grateful. On a side-note, when I plug my headphones in the socket, the sound (for the rare times it starts to play music, then reboot), STILL comes out the speakers as opposed to the headphones. If you think I need to 'factory reset', please tell me how, 'cos I looked for that option and couldn't see it anywhere. Presumably this would wipe all the music I put onto it, too? Thoughts? Many, many thanks in advance.

The headphones thing happens *very rarely* with my device, and I generally attribute it to lag. Also, when I first got the device the headphones were very difficult to plug in, so I did not plug them in far enough, and experienced this issue. If you can get into the settings though.... you can factory reset from there. Edit: Never mind, I found it! If you hold the power button, the volume up button, and the home button all at the same time while booting, it opens in recovery mode where you can factory reset your device. When you're in this menu you use the volume button to scroll and the home button to make a selection. Last edited by Sarracen; 10-20-2011 at 04:22 AM. |

I wiped the user data and rebooted first, but that didn't work, so I wiped the cache, and rebooted. That seemed to do the trick. And the headphone socket worked again! Really not sure what it was. Could've been a bad app? Anyway, thank you for all your help. Love this board. |
